Sonar drain tracing is an advanced technology that locates underground drainage pipes without any excavation. Using acoustic signals transmitted through the pipe network, we can accurately map the position, depth, and direction of drains hidden beneath your property.

How Does Sonar Drain Tracing Work?
The technology works by inserting a transmitter (called a sonde) into the drainage system. This sonde emits a signal that can be detected at ground level using a specialist receiver.
The Tracing Process
- Access point identification: We locate manholes or gullies to insert equipment
- Sonde insertion: The transmitter is fed into the drainage system
- Signal tracking: The receiver detects the sonde's signal through concrete, tarmac, and soil
- Marking and recording: Pipe positions are marked on the surface
- Depth measurement: The receiver calculates pipe depth at multiple points
